I have the privilege of being well acquainted with the lovely artist of the piece I’m showcasing today. It is called The Birth of Fem and it’s reflective of newfound confidence in her creativeness & self-identity. Being in her humble presence makes her work that much more captivating. But I hope sharing it with you guys with the short interview below brings ideas of loving, exploring, and discovering yourself.
Q. Can you tell me about it? Like, what does it mean to you?
A. I just relate a lot with Venus and Aphrodite and to me the birth of Fem is like the awakening of my inner Goddess. Because I know that she’s always been within me.
Q. Why’d you choose Fem?
A. It’s just being my true self. That’s my art name, it’s like realizing my inner Goddess through my art. I feel like I have an alter ego which is Fem.
Q. What did you find challenging about this piece?
A. Well, what I found most challenging was getting to a point where I was comfortable and confident enough with myself to allow people to see me nude. Although I’m not full blown naked, and I am covering my lady parts, I’ve always struggled with my body image. But I kept telling myself that Aphrodite is a Goddess and she didn’t have a flat tummy either.
Q. Is there anything you want to share about it that someone may not realize just by looking?
A. I feel like this is the first piece where I really challenged myself and tried to think out of my normal box. And I really see it as the start of some great art reflective of my self-realization and inner spiritual growth. I find a lot of inspiration in flowers and clouds and I will be trying my hand at different mediums to continue to challenge myself so expect a lot of that. 😊💕
